inDrive – 10 Years of Redefining Ride Hailing

India, July, 2023: inDrive, a global mobility and urban services platform headquartered in Mountain View, California, celebrates  10 years of redefining the ride-hailing industry.

inDrive differs from its competitors in that passengers and drivers can directly negotiate the cost of a fare. At a time when many commuters in India are complaining of the excessive cost of ride-hailing services, this approach puts passengers and drivers back in control, allowing them to determine their own fares, rather than having these set by an algorithm.

Despite challenges along the way – inDrive has achieved much since launching as a startup in June 2013. In February 2021, the company soared to unicorn status, and in January 2023, data.ai (formerly App Annie) declared inDrive the fastest growing app in its industry globally for 2022, and #2 in the world by total number of downloads. The company has also scooped several awards, including Google Play’s 2019 Best Everyday Essential app in Brazil, and the SHIELD Trust Awards 2022.

“Globally, inDrive’s strategy has been to expand by addressing existing gaps in underserved markets,” said Pavit Nanda Anand, South Asia PR Manager, inDrive. “We offer fairer solutions that meet people’s need for affordable transportation. In India, inDrive is currently operational in 10 cities including Delhi-NCR, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Chandigarh, Jaipur and Bhopal, and we plan to gradually expand to other cities.”

This strategy has seen the company expand to 48 countries, where it is presently active in 655 cities. inVision, a division of inDrive dedicated to making the world a better place through environmental and social projects, currently has 9 projects working across 19 countries; its founding program, BeginIT, has run throughout the inDrive’s first decade.

With over 175 million downloads, the inDrive app is the second most downloaded mobility application in the world. In addition to ride-hailing, inDrive provides an expanding list of urban services, including intercity transportation, cargo and freight delivery, task assistance, delivery and employment search – although the availability of these vary by location.

inDrive is changing the world via its peer-to-peer payment model and its community empowerment programs, which help advance education, sports, arts and sciences, gender equality and other vital initiatives. And we want you to join us for the ride. Here’s to the next ten years!” added Pavit Nanda Anand, South Asia PR Manager, inDrive
